KALLIE CLAYTON – Soprano - Adina

Kallie holds a Master of Music in Opera from UBC where she studied under the tutelage of tenor J. Patrick Raftery. While at UBC she performed the title role of Massenet’s Manon, Pamina in Die Zauberflöte, and Mimí in La Bohème. Kallie also performed the role of Pamina in the Czech Republic and in Vancouver at Bard on the Beach. Her other roles include Noémie in Cendrillon, Cupidon inOrphée aux Enfers, and Linfea in La Calisto. Kallie has also been featured as a soloist with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra for their Tea and Trumpets concert series and Traditional Christmas Concerts. Her recent engagements include chorus in Turandot with Vancouver Opera and Oscar in Verdi’s Un ballo in maschera with Opera Mariposa/Heroic Opera Company. Upcoming for Kallie is the lead role of “Adina” in Burnaby Lyric Opera’s production of L’elisir d’amore in February, 2019.

SERGIO AUGUSTO – Tenor – Nemorino

Sergio has just returned from a two year stay in the United Kingdom where he performed the leading role of Alfredo in Verdi’s La Traviata, for Hampstead Garden Opera and the role of Roberto, in Donizetti’s Maria Stuarda for Pavilion Opera’s closing season.  He also had the recent privilege of taking part in the London Bel Canto Festival where he studied under legendary singers Bruce Ford and Aprile Millo.  Sergio is very excited to be back in the Vancouver Operatic scene and playing the lovable Nemorino in Burnaby Lyric Opera’s upcoming production of  “L’elisir d’amore”.

AARON DURAND – Baritone – Belcore

Aaron is originally from 100 Mile House.  Aaron is now widely known for his easygoing nature, “beautiful, fluid baritone” (Globe & Mail), and "sense of the comical and the ludicrous" (Calgary Herald). Durand has performed opera, art song, and musical theatre across Canada, China, and the Czech Republic, and enjoys balancing his love of the classics with a passion for contemporary music. Past highlights include Ours with Opera on the Avalon, The Overcoat with Tapestry Opera and Vancouver Opera, and a BC-wide tour of  Stickboy by slam poet Shane Koyczan and composer Neil Weisensel. When not working, Aaron can be found listening to Alan Watts lectures, hiking something, or drinking yet another coffee.

MICHAEL MACKINNON - Bass – Dr. Dulcamara

Michael spent his youth drumming in many different bands before realizing that singers got more attention. For the past few years, he’s enjoyed singing opera professionally, both in Canada and Europe.  His work has taken him to Scotland, Germany, Switzerland and Western Canada singing such roles as; Colline in La Boheme, Sarastro in The Magic Flute, Dulcamara in L’elisir d’amore and Leporello in Don Giovanni.  Michael’s most recent performance with Burnaby Lyric Opera was Dr. Bartolo in Il Barbiere di Siviglia in February 2018.

ISABELLA HALLADAY - Soprano - Giannetta

Isabella is thrilled to be performing once again with Burnaby Lyric Opera. A UBC Bachelors of Music graduate, majoring in Opera Performance, Isabella is a Vancouver based singer, actress and dancer. Select credits include: Frasquita, Carmen (Burnaby Lyric Opera); Helena, Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream (UBC Opera Ensemble); King Herod, Jesus Christ Superstar (URP); Lulu, Cabaret (Royal City Musical Theatre). She also currently performs improv with Instant Theatre Company’s Shakespeare After Dark and Off Key Musical Improv; and is a teaching artist with Bard on the Beach and Vancouver Opera, sharing theatre
and music with students across BC. Isabella has sung with with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra and with choral groups such as Cor Flammae and the University Singers across Canada and Europe. Find her next in Too Fly Production’s Vamp and Geekender’s Alice in Glitterland.

ANGUS KELLETT - Music Director, Conductor
This will be Angus’ fourth appearance with Burnaby Lyric Opera, having previously music directed Il Barbiere di Siviglia, La bohème and Carmen. Other recent opera credits include Turandot and Hansel and Gretel with Vancouver Opera, and Alma with East Van Opera. Recent music directing credits include City of Angels with Putting It Together Collective, Songs for a New World with Fabulist Theatre, and Into the Woods with Fighting Chance Productions. As a keyboardist Angus has performed in Beauty and the Beast, Mary Poppins, and Les Miserables with the Arts Club, The Book of Mormon and Wicked with Broadway Across Canada, and Annie, The Sound of Music, Fiddler on the Roof, and The Wizard of Oz with Gateway Theatre. Upcoming projects include Elektra with Heroic Opera and Mamma Mia! with the Arts Club. He also played the role of Manny in the Arts Club's production of Master Class. Angus holds a degree in piano performance from the University of Victoria and a diploma in operatic performance from the University of Toronto.

SARAH JANE PELZER is a Canadian stage director and teacher based in Vancouver, BC.
She has directed, assisted and taught across the country at Vancouver, Edmonton and Manitoba Opera, Opera on the Avalon, Pacific Opera Victoria, Opera Kelowna, the Victoria Conservatory and the VSO School of Music.
Favourite past projects include an original adaptation of The Fairy Queen for the VCM’s Opera Studio and Pauline Viardot’s Cendrillon for the Yulanda M. Faris program.  Prior to her transition to directing and teaching, Ms. Pelzer was a performer and theatre-maker most known for creating the role of Jane Doe in the international award-winning musical Ride the Cyclone and as artistic associate and co-founder of SNAFU Dance Theatre.

JOSEPH SPITALE is thrilled to be making his debut as a Production Manager/Designer working with Burnaby Lyric Opera. Last year, Joseph made his directorial debut with the play Gamma Delta Nasty for the New York Theatre Festival and Beauty and the Beast Jr with Children's Theatre of Richmond.  Joseph's Vancouver acting credits include productions with Theatre Under The Stars, Vancouver Opera, UBC Opera, TooFly Productions, Exit 22, North Shore Light Opera Society, Capilano Suspension Bridge, and the Good Noise Gospel Singers. His international acting credits include Lead Singer in Minnie Oh! Minnie at Tokyo Disneyland, Lumiere in Beauty and the Beast, Marius in Les Misérables, King Louis XIII in The Three Musketeers, Alan in Babes in Toyland, and Fred in A Christmas Carol. Joseph has performed everywhere from Lincoln Centre in NYC, to Off-Broadway, to cruise ships, and all across the USA as the lead in a National Tour. Joseph is an American Musical and Dramatic Academy (NYC) graduate, and a University of British Columbia (Bachelor of Music) graduate. He is also a speech-arts teacher and Artistic Director at Indigo Education. You can see Joseph on stage next in July 2019 as Franz in Renegade Arts Company's production of Rock of Ages. Gina McLellan Morel – Costume Design

JULIA LANK is a stage manager, performer, and graphic designer from Vancouver. Recent Credits - SM: Jasper In Deadland (Awkward Stage), Red Light Winter (Vagrant Players), Soul Samurai (Affair Of Honor), Almost, Maine (ARTery Collective), City of Angels (PIT Collective). Acting: Kill All Politicians (Vagrant Players); The Nightmare Before Christmas, Wayne Manor (Geekenders). Design: The Christians (Pacific Theatre); Heroine (Affair Of Honor); Slumber Here, The Shape Of Things, Cry-Baby, The Lady Show (Fringe). She is the publicist at Pacific Theatre, the artistic director of Off Key Musical Improv, and a performer with Shakespeare After Dark.

KENNETH TYNAN – Assistant Stage Manager Kenneth was born in Vancouver BC and has been performing since he was young. He started out as a figure skater, then shifted his focus to becoming an actor. He is very excited to be performing in the BLO chorus again, and is also too happy to be lending his services as the ASM. He hopes you enjoy the show!
